Comparison between two analytical models to study the flocculation of mineral clay by polyelectrolytes

In the present article two flocculation models, given in [5] (LG model) and [36] (S are compared. Both models give time evolution dL/dt where L is size of a particle undergoing flocculation, t time. The LG model based on logistic growth theory, whereas S theory originally derived by Smoluchowski. have advantage easy implementation in, for instance, large-scale sediment transport numerical models. However, it found that they do not obey same kinetics. A series laboratory experiments presented mineral clay polyelectrolyte studied as function concentration shear rate. From modelling these experiments, reproduces dependence floc sizes experimentally, does not. It shown can be used to data over whole range investigated.
